Eagle's Claw

We enjoy a fleeting spring in North Texas and in those few weeks, the native columbines are a sight to behold.

Aquilegia chrysantha, the golden spur columbine, is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the southwestern United States from extreme southern Utah to Texas and northwestern Mexico. Aquilegia means Eagle's claw and the flower derives the name fromt the shape of its spurs.
