“Cotton is King”
Texas tops the nation in cotton production. Cotton is the leading cash crop in the state each year with a lot of it exported. About one-half of all the cotton acres in the United States are in Texas.
Yawn! That is not what I was looking for. I just happened to drive past this cotton farm south of Dallas earlier this evening. I asked my daughter do you think we have time to stop by to catch the sunset. That looked nice. She said, “Yes Daddy. You are the one driving”.
A hasty U-Turn later, I pulled up next to a burly Sheriff’s deputy parked in his SUV. We said hello to each other though he must have been wondering what the hell I was doing there. I quickly went over the cotton field by the roadside and shot this quickly.
Most of the cotton has been harvested already with some roadsides resembling snowfall. Hopefully I will remember to look for them earlier next year. Better yet, there might be sunflowers on these fields next year since I hear cotton and sunflower are rotated every year.
